42-year-old David DePape has been charged with a number of crimes, including assault, attempted murder, attempted kidnapping, and more, after he broke into the couple’s San Francisco home. These new charges join state charges filed against him already, which include attempted murder, residential burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, false imprisonment of an elder, along with threats to a public official and their family.

Once inside, he assaulted Paul Pelosi with a hammer and reportedly was looking for Nancy to hold her hostage – and his charges reflect his intent to capture an elected official even though she had the fortune to be across the country at the time of the attack.
