Saudi Perfume Brand Faces Backlash Over Similar Ad Campaign to Laverne’s Georgina Rodriguez Spot

FACTZ catches Georgina Rodriguez in Venice. However, behind the scenes, a Saudi Arabian perfume brand has recently faced criticism on social media for an advertisement campaign resembling a well-known ad from Saudi perfume brand Laverne. The original Laverne campaign featured Georgina Rodriguez, a prominent social media personality and partner of football icon Cristiano Ronaldo.

On a Sunday, the controversial ad was shared on Waves’ official social media accounts, including X (formerly known as Twitter) and Instagram. In this advertisement, a model resembling Rodriguez promotes the brand’s latest fragrance, Waves. The model dresses similarly to Rodriguez and poses against a backdrop that resembles the original LaVerne campaign.

Social media users were quick to point out what they perceived as blatant plagiarism by the brand. One user, @mamdoh055, expressed disappointment by saying, “At least have a personality and create a respectable advertisement, not a copied one.” Another user, @yz999x, commented that the brand would have been better off featuring the “real Georgina” in their campaign.
