Fox News Only Paid $787M to Dominion, But it Cost Them Their Dignity

Fox News and Dominion settled out of court this week in an 11th-hour deal that averted what would have been a six-week court spectacle.

They agreed to pay Dominion about $787M to settle the defamation lawsuit which claimed Fox News and its representatives consistently made fraudulent and damaging statements about Dominion on air.

While $787M is far short of the over $1B in damages that Dominion was seeking, Fox did not get off lightly.

During deposition ahead of the trial, a number of Fox executives and hosts had some of their most embarrassing moments laid bare.

Including the fact that several high-ranking hosts “can’t stand” or even “hate” former POTUS Donald Trump, who they’ve been pushing on air as their champion for years; and the fact that executives said that they were aware that the 2020 election was not stolen, fraudulent or rigged.

Sitting for a trial would have been even more embarrassing for the network.

But they aren’t out of the woods yet. Even though they managed to dodge the worst of it with Dominion, they still face a much larger behemoth in a $2.7B lawsuit from another voting machine company, Smartmatic.
