Fox News host Tucker Carlson may have finally found a journey that Republicans won’t walk with him on.

Carlson was given tens of thousands of hours worth of surveillance footage from the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Carlson opted to slice and doctor the video to the point that it makes the rioters look like peaceful protestors, spinning a web of lies around the violence that actually occurred on January 6.

And even Republicans who stayed with him through the lies after the 2020 election are fed up.

Sen. Mitch McConnell said of the intentionally deceitful footage, “It was a mistake, in my view, for Fox News to depict this in a way that’s completely at variance with what our chief law enforcement official here in the Capitol thinks.”

Sen. Kevin Cramer, once a staunch supporter of Trump, said, “To somehow put [Jan. 6] in the same category as a permitted peaceful protest is just a lie.”

Sen. Mitt Romney said that all networks should be given the footage, not just Fox, adding, “I think it’s a very dangerous thing to do to suggest that attacking the Capitol of the United States is in any way acceptable and is anything other than a serious crime against democracy and against our country.”

What Carlson hoped to achieve remains unclear, but the footage has Donald Trump almost gleeful – even as Republicans are backing away in horror.
