Elon Musk Locks Twitter Engineers Out, Brings Tesla Staff in For Oversight

Elon Musk may now own Twitter, but it’s clear he doesn’t trust his new company’s workers yet.

One of the first things Musk did after taking over was fire several executives, including:

  • CEO Parag Agrawal: While Musk is planning to step into the CEO role, he may not remain in that role for long and could pass it along to someone else. Ironically, Twitter founder Jack Dorsey has been floated as an option – but he’s working on another project.
  • CFO Ned Segal
  • Head of Legal Policy, Trust and Safety Vijaya Gadde
  • General Counsel Sean Edgett.

Elon Musk also brought in his own engineers from Tesla to look over Twitter’s software code and see what needs to be changed to make his vision a reality.

Twitter’s engineers were locked out of the code, so they couldn’t change anything during the transition.

Although it’s unclear precisely what Musk plans to change about Twitter overall, he’s expected to remove permanent blacklisting of users, which could allow the return of controversial figures such as Donald Trump and others.
