Dem Katie Hobbs Defeats MAGA Darling Kari Lake in Race for AZ Governor

On Monday, Democrats won a high-stakes race out of Arizona that had many people holding their breath anxiously.

Democrat Secretary of State Katie Hobbs beat Republican Kari Lake in the Arizona race for Governor, with the race result projected late Monday.

It’s a huge win for Democrats in a newly emerged battleground state and a stinging rebuke to the prominent election deniers who ran on supporting Trump and riling up MAGA supporters.

Hobbs said in a statement Monday, “I am honored to have been selected to serve as the next Governor of Arizona. I want to thank the voters for entrusting me with this immense responsibility. It is truly an honor of a lifetime, and I will do everything in my power to make you proud.”

Lake, for her part, said after the race results were announced (via social media): “Arizonans know BS when they see it.”

But it’s not the repudiation Democrats were hoping for – the race was incredibly close, reminding them that things aren’t as black and white as they had expected.

Who knew that someone with the last name Lake could self-burn so severely?
