R. Kelly Convicted on Child Porn and Sex Abuses Charges

R. Kelly used to be one of the biggest names in R&B, but the final nail in his coffin in a fall from grace came today after a federal jury found him guilty on three counts of child pornography and three counts of child enticement.

However, he was acquitted on a fourth charge of child pornography, as well as a conspiracy to obstruct justice.

Jurors deliberated for 11 hours over the course of two days, writing several questions to the judge which suggests that they were struggling with some of the case’s complex legal implications. They abruptly wrapped it up today, and Kelly was delivered his guilty convictions.

R. Kelly was also found not guilty on all three counts of conspiring to receive child pornography and two additional enticement charges.

Kelly’s two co-defendants were found not guilty on all charges.

Kelly is already facing 30 years in prison for a New York court case where he was convicted of racketeering and sex trafficking. One count of child pornography in Chicago carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison, and receipt of child pornography carries a 5-year minimum sentence.
