Wimbledon Changes All-White Dress Code to Support Women’s Periods

Wimbledon, one of the world’s most renowned sporting institutions, is breaking from tradition by relaxing its all-white dress code to address the stress caused by women’s periods. The subtle but significant change allows female players to wear underwear in colors other than white, marking a departure from the strict rules that previously applied to all clothing, including undergarments. The adjustment, approved unanimously by the All England Club after consultations with players, aims to alleviate period anxiety for those participating in the tournament.

The decision comes as a relief for many female players who have faced the challenge of wearing all-white sportswear while dealing with the physical and emotional burdens of menstruation. Magda Linette, a grand slam semi-finalist and world No 23 from Poland, highlights the nerve-racking nature of competing while menstruating and emphasizes the need for understanding and support in such situations.
