Whole Foods Closing San Francisco Location a Year After Opening

San Francisco seems like the perfect market for Whole Foods.

But the flagship location of the company in downtown San Francisco is closing after just a year of being open. The location (Trinity Place) will close today, with a Whole Foods spokesperson explaining, “To ensure the safety of our Team Members, we have made the difficult decision to close the Trinity store for the time being.”

They added, “All Team Members will be transferred to one of our nearby locations.” In the statement, the spokesperson seemed to suggest that the store could reopen in the future, but did not provide specific details.

They also did not elaborate on what safety concerns they are responding to.

But reports have tagged the location as a frequent victim of “high theft” and “hostile people.”
