Vegas Golden Knights Crush Panthers 7-2, Take 2-0 Lead In Stanley Cup Finals

The Vegas Golden Knights took a commanding 2-0 lead in the Stanley Cup Finals with a 7-2 victory over the Florida Panthers on Monday night.

Vegas jumped out to a 4-0 midway through the second period and never looked back.

Jonathan Marchessault continued his torrid postseason pace in the win by posting two goals and an assist. Marchessault now has 12 goals in his last 12 playoff games.

In the crease, Adin Hill stood tall in net again for the Golden Knights, stopping 29 of the 31 shots that came his way.

Things were not as rosy at the other end of the ice. Panthers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky was pulled after allowing four goals on 13 shots. Bobrovsky was the main reason the Panthers made it to the Cup Final, but he has had a putrid showing thus far.

There was also a lot of chippiness in the game as both teams set the tone with physicality. Most notably, Mathew Tkachuk steamrolled Jack Eichel with a massive open-ice collision. Thankfully, Eichel was able to return at the start of the third period.

A 2-0 lead is not insurmountable for the Panthers, but the Golden Knights have controlled every aspect of the series thus far.

Florida will need to play their best game of the series on Thursday night back in Sunrise.
