Vegas Golden Knights Capture First Stanley Cup Championship In Franchise History

Las Vegas, you are officially a hockey city.

The Vegas Golden Knights captured their first Stanley Cup title with a dominant victory in Game 5 over the Florida Panthers.

The crowning achievement occurred on their home ice at T-Mobile Arena, just six years after the team’s inaugural season. They became the fastest expansion team to win the Stanley Cup in the NHL’s modern era (1967 onwards).

Golden Knights captain Mark Stone set the capacity crowd into a frenzy by opening the scoring with a beautiful shorthanded marker midway through the first period.

He added two more goals in the game, becoming the first player since Peter Forsberg in 1996 to record a hat trick in the Stanley Cup Final.

Jack Eichel produced three assists in the game to continue his stellar postseason, while ex-Panther Jonathan Marchessault extended his playoff point streak to a stunning 10 games.

The Panthers had a miraculous run to reach the Finals, but once the series started it felt as though they were outclassed in every way.

Congrats on a well-deserved championship Golden Knights, now go show the world how hard Las Vegas can party.
