The US government will be selling $1.17 billion worth of bitcoin that was seized after they raided the illegal Silk Road marketplace assets.

According to new court filings, the government is selling around 51,351 BTC, and has already sold off about 9,861 BTC.

But the remainder will not be sold until its former purveyor, James Zhong, accused of stealing the virtual assets from Silk Road in 2012, is sentenced on April 14.

FACTZ asked if the money will go to Ukraine, “no comment.”
