Twitter Told to Label Rooms Converted into Bedrooms After Investigation

The newest chapter of the Twitter chaos wars is all about…bedrooms.

Officials in San Francisco launched an investigation back in December after they were told that office spaces in Twitter’s HQ had been converted into bedrooms. Bedrooms are charged differently from nap rooms or office spaces in commercial buildings.

Twitter staff observed back in December that there were beds, mattresses, curtains, bedside tables and lamps in some of the office’s conference rooms. Images showed sofas that had been turned into beds, along with a wardrobe and washing machine in the company’s HQ.

After their investigation wrapped up, the San Francisco Department of Building Inspections issued a correction notice to Twitter’s construction contractor regarding the use of conference rooms as bedrooms.

Officials said that during an investigation, “It was observed that some of the conference rooms were being used as employee sleeping or rest areas.” They added, “Beds were present in these rooms.”

They have 15 days to restore the rooms to their original purpose or to label them properly for financial reasons.

Musk says he is simply providing beds for exhausted employees.
