Platformer recently released a report stating that Twitter is secretly boosting the accounts of 35 VIP users.

Platformer’s managing editor, Zoe Schiffer, cited internal documents from Twitter as proof that these 35 accounts have their posts monitored and promoted for greater visibility.

14 of the 35 names on the list were published, and they included Lebron James, Mr. Beast, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ben Shapiro, the pro-trump conservative commentator known as catturd2, and Elon Musk.

According to the report, engineers have come up with a system that promotes those VIP users above all others, ranking them higher in terms of visibility. They also bypass a Twitter algorithm that prevents too many posts from a user being viewed.

The good news: the list seems to be bipartisan, because while conservative voices like catturd2 are on there, so is President Joe Biden – so both sides of the political spectrum seem to be getting some extra airtime.

However, it’s unclear why those 35 accounts were chosen – and Platformer did not publish all the names on the list, in order to protect their source.
