PLAYOFF RECAP

Toronto Maple Leafs Fall Flat On Their Face In Game 1 Disaster

“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

Safe to say, Toronto Maple Leafs fans are starting to feel a little insane by believing in their team every postseason.

All year long the organization has preached that this time will be different. That the playoffs are the true focus. That they are ready for the battle that lies ahead.

Yet, in Game 1 on their home ice, the Leafs looked more discombobulated than they had all season in a lopsided 7-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

With an electric crowd behind them, they allowed a goal 78 seconds into the game. They were down 3-0 at the end of the first period.

They ultimately battled back to make it a one-goal deficit, but an idiotic major penalty from noted pest Michael Bunting ensured the game would be far out of reach.

There is still a ton of hockey left in this series, but nevertheless, it was an inexcusable performance from a team that has proved so little with so much on the line.

They better hope they respond in Game 2, or else things might get even uglier.
