‘The Last of Us’ Marks HBO Milestone as Viewers Surge From Premiere to Ep 2

“The Last of Us” is a gritty post-apocalyptic new drama airing on #HBO.

The series, based on a video game, has been an instant hit among audiences, helmed by Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey; the series has hit the ground running – and marked a new milestone for HBO.

The series marked HBO’s largest-ever viewership growth for a drama between the premiere and episode 2.

This means that the word is getting around – and people are tuning in.

Episode 2 brought in 22% more viewers than the premiere, which broke records with 4.7 million people tuned in.

By the third day after the first episode dropped on HBO Max, the first episode had already garnered 10 million viewers. Now, it’s at over 18 million.

The show follows Pascal’s character Joel (a hardened survivor eking out a living in post-apocalypse Boston), who is hired to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie out of a military dictatorship operating in a quarantine zone.

But it quickly becomes obvious that this is no average job – and the two have to rethink their journey and the way they look at the world around them.
