The Heroic Acts of Lieutenant Colonel Guy Madar

Allow FACTZ to introduce you to a genuine hero, Lieutenant Colonel Guy Madar. As a dedicated career army officer residing further north, Guy was celebrating Simchas Torah in Kiryat Gat, just a 30-minute drive from Re’im.

Upon learning of the terrorist incursion, Guy wasted no time and immediately headed south, armed with nothing but his personal pistol. Upon his arrival in the Re’im area, Guy encountered a severely wounded Golani soldier and swiftly took him into his car. While doing so, a Hamas terrorist opened fire on his vehicle, but Guy’s quick thinking allowed him to evade the threat and eliminate the terrorist.

After acquiring the soldier’s firearm, Guy courageously neutralized an additional five terrorists on motorcycles. He then transported the injured soldier to a field hospital and joined forces with a policeman traveling southward. However, their journey was met with yet another terrorist attack.

Guy and the policeman suffered leg injuries, and their vehicle veered off the road. Guy found himself in a ditch but, undeterred, he continued to eliminate more terrorists after applying a tourniquet to his injured leg. He remained in that ditch for two hours, surrounded by the bodies of numerous terrorists, until IDF forces arrived.

Unfortunately, upon their arrival, they initially mistook Guy for one of the terrorists due to his civilian attire. Weak from blood loss, Guy cried out to identify himself as a soldier. It was only at the last moment, when one of the soldiers noticed his tzitzis, that his life was dramatically spared. Guy was rushed to Beilinson Hospital, where he underwent surgery and is currently receiving medical treatment.
