T-Mobile is Buying Ryan Reynolds’ Mint in Whopping $1.35B Deal

T-Mobile announced Wednesday that it is buying budget wireless provider Mint Mobile in a breathtaking $1.35B deal. Mint Mobile was launched in 2016 with a goal of creating an “affordable, premium wireless” option for consumers.

The purchase deal means a big payday for beloved actor Ryan Reynolds.

Reynolds bought a minority ownership stake in Mint Mobile in 2019, and has served as a spokesperson since. When he first purchased the stake in Mint, he called the choice, “a bit unconventional.” He said, “celebrities generally invest in high-end products like skincare brands or delicious gin companies.”

He will remain with the company in a “creative role” once the ink is dry.

Reynolds wrote on Twitter, “I never dreamt I’d own a wireless company and I certainly never dreamt I’d sell it to T-Mobile. Life is strange and I’m incredibly proud and grateful.”
