Super Bowl Ads Show Anheuser-Busch Still Reigns Supreme and Crypto is Out

Last year, fans tuned in for what was called the “Crypto Bow,” because four cryptocurrency companies (FTX, Coinbase, Crypto.com and eToro) ran big, expensive commercials during the big game.

However, this year, crypto is on the rocks and booze is back in.

Anheuser-Busch is (and remains) the biggest advertiser, having purchased a solid three minutes of airtime.

But they surrendered their deal to be the bowl’s exclusive alcohol advertiser, so Heineken, Diageo, Remy Martin and Molson Coors are hot on their heels.

Other brands buying big time on the big night include Doritos, M&Ms, several movie studios and streaming services, automakers and tech companies.

The landscape could have looked a lot different this year, with crypto remaining a big driver of the night’s ads, if not for the collapse of FTX. After that, two pending deals with crypto advertisers were scrubbed and other companies left with their tails between their legs.

Mark Evans, executive VP of ad sales for Fox Sports, said of crypto for 2023 “There’s zero representation in that category on the day at all.”
