Santa Monica Pier Will Illuminate Ferris Wheel in Tribute to Kobe Bryant on ‘Kobe Bryant Day’

Santa Monica Pier will honor the enduring legacy of Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant with a special illuminated display on the pier’s iconic Ferris wheel on August 24, also recognized as Kobe Bryant Day.

The Ferris wheel will radiate with two luminous exhibits, featuring the messages “LA + ❤️ + 24” and “LA + ❤️ + 8,” alongside striking patterns of purple and gold, as detailed in a press release.

In 2020, a heartbreaking incident took the lives of Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and seven others as they were en route to a basketball game at the Mamba Academy in Thousand Oaks via helicopter. The aircraft crashed into a hillside, resulting in the loss of all passengers on board.

The devastating crash sent shockwaves worldwide, uniting countless individuals in mourning and remembrance of Kobe Bryant and the other victims. Their enduring memory continues to be cherished by fans, athletes, and communities alike.
