The rich are getting richer.

A new report from Oxfam revealed this week that the top 1% of the worlds wealthiest hold nearly twice as much wealth as the rest of the world.

According to the report, Billionaire fortunes are increasing by a whopping $2.7B A DAY even as over 1.7 billion workers now live in countries where inflation outpaces wages.

If the world’s multi-millionaires and billionaires were taxed just 5%, it would create tax revenue of up to $1.7 trillion a year which could lift 2 billion – BILLION – people out of poverty.

Gabriela Bucher, Executive Director of Oxfam International, said of the study, “While ordinary people are making sacrifices on essentials like food, the super-rich have outdone even their wildest dreams.” She added, “Taxing the super-rich and big corporations is the door out of today’s overlapping crises. It’s time we demolish the convenient myth that tax cuts for the richest result in their wealth somehow ‘trickling down’ to everyone else. Forty years of tax cuts for the super-rich have shown that a rising tide doesn’t lift all ships.”
