Republican Presidential Town Hall With Donald Trump Expressing His View on Guns – “A Mental Health Problem… It’s Not The Gun That Pulls The Trigger”

This FACTZ article fact-checks several claims made by former President Donald Trump during a town hall event in 2023:

  • During the town hall, Trump claimed that he won the 2020 presidential election and that it was stolen from him through widespread voter fraud. This claim is false and has been repeatedly debunked by numerous courts and election officials.
  • Trump also claimed that the US-Mexico border wall was completed during his presidency, but this is not true. As of May 2023, only a small portion of the wall has been built, and construction has largely stopped since President Biden took office.
  • Trump stated that he had the most successful presidency in history in terms of economic growth and job creation. While the US economy did see growth and job creation during his presidency, these trends were largely a continuation of trends from the Obama administration.
  • Trump claimed that he passed the largest tax cut in US history. While the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act was significant, it was not the largest tax cut in history when adjusted for inflation.
  • Finally, Trump claimed that he was tougher on Russia than any other president. This claim is misleading, as Trump was criticized for his friendly relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin and his administration’s lack of action in response to Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Sorry folks, just the FACTZ.
