Television executive legend Jeff Shell is stepping down from his role as NBCUniversal CEO after he has admitted to an “inappropriate relationship” with CNBC anchor and Senior International Correspondent Hadley Gamble.  It is being reported their relationship started almost 11 years ago and continued sporadically up until a couple of years ago.

Shell is 57 years old and Gamble is 41 years old. The case was investigated by an outside firm to uncover all of the details, and Comcast Chairman and CEO Brian Roberts and Comcast President Mike Cavanagh have indicated that the couple’s relationship violated company policy.

Cavanagh has been speaking out about the relationship, saying, “You should count on your leaders to create a safe and respectful workplace,” they wrote. “When our principles and policies are violated, we will always move quickly to take the appropriate action, as we have done here.”

Jeff Shell is currently married and has been married for many years.  He has hired a powerhouse set of lawyers to reach a settlement with NBCUniversal, which should get interesting.  No word yet if Gamble yet will receive a reprimand for their relationship.
