Nancy Pelosi Steps Down as Dem House Leader After 19 Years

Soon-to-be-former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has announced that she will be stepping down from Democrat leadership next year.

The 82-year-old will be staying on as a member of Congress but says it’s time for new blood at the helm.

FACTZ has learned that Nancy Pelosi and her husband will celebrate her illustrious career in Kona, Hawaii.

In a historic speech on the House floor Thursday, Pelosi said, “For me, the hour’s come for a new generation to lead the Democratic caucus that I so deeply respect. And I am grateful that so many are ready and willing to shoulder this awesome responsibility.”

She recalled all of the presidents she has worked with – except for Donald Trump.

Democrats showed up to hear her announcement and cheered her on, and while the Republican side of the House was noticeably emptier, GOP’s second in command in the House, Steve Scalise, was there and he gave her a standing ovation.

Top GOP leader in the House, Kevin McCarthy, was conspicuously absent.
