The Jrue Holiday era in Portland is officially over, and it lasted an entirety of four days.
On Sunday afternoon, the Trail Blazers shipped the two-time All Star to the Boston Celtics for center Robert Williams, guard Malcolm Brogdon, a 2024 first-round pick that originally belonged to the Golden State Warriors, and Boston’s unprotected first-round pick in 2029.
The Blazers originally acquired Holiday as a central part of the Damian Lillard trade to Milwaukee earlier in the week.
With the two moves, the Blazers have now acquired three first-round picks and two more pick swaps with Milwuakee in 2028 and 2030.
They have also added former first-overall pick DeAndre Ayton to their core, alongside the aforementioned Williams and Brogdon.
As for the Celtics, this move feels like a response to the Bucks trade. Holiday now gives them a deadly trio with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, plus Kristaps Porzingis in a supporting role.
Boston is now tied with Milwuakee for the best title odds.
Matchups between those two Eastern Conference powerhouses will be must-watch this season.
