LSU Outlasts Caitlin Clark, Iowa to Capture Women’s National Championship

It was a high-scoring affair throughout, but the LSU Tigers eventually overcame the Iowa Hawkeyes to capture the NCAA Women’s National Championship.

Tigers senior guard Jasmine Carson was a revelation off the bench in the first half, hitting all seven shots she took. She finished the game with a team-high 22 points.

Her teammate Angel Reese picked up 15 points and 10 rebounds to record her 34th double-double of the season, which is the most ever in a single year in D-1 history.

Iowa guard, and star of the tournament, Caitlin Clark had another strong performance in a losing effort. The 21-year-old finished with a game-high 30 points on 50% shooting from three.

It is the first women’s basketball national championship for LSU.
