Kristaps Porzingis Signs Two-Year, $60 Million Extension With Celtics

Kristaps Porzingis has agreed to a two-year, $60 million extension with the Boston Celtics just two weeks after being acquired.

The Latvian big man was included in a three-team trade between the Celtics, Grizzlies, and Wizards that ultimately sent Marcus Smart to Memphis.

Porzingis had already agreed to his $36 million player option for the 2023-24 season, but the new extension will keep him in Beantown until 2026.

Injuries continue to nag on Porzingis’ career, but he remains a wholly effective scorer when healthy.

He has averaged over 20 points per game across his last five seasons and was a top-25 scorer in the league last year.
Porzingis should help the Celtics space the floor even more efficiently as he tries to lead them to the promised land alongside Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
