Kim Kardashian to Pay $1.26M to Settle SEC Charges

Kim Kardashian has agreed to a settlement in the amount of $1.26M.

The SEC charged her with failing to disclose that she had been paid to promote a crypto token sold by EthereumMax.

Kardashian earned $250K for the promotion, but now it’ll cost her over $1 million.

Kardashian and other celebrities jumped on the crypto promotion bandwagon during the pandemic, and the SEC is slowly mopping up those who didn’t correctly disclose their involvement.

Gary Gensler, the SEC chair, said in a statement announcing the settlement, “Ms. Kardashian’s case also serves as a reminder to celebrities and others that the law requires them to disclose to the public when and how much they are paid to promote investing in securities.”

Kardashian has cooperated with the SEC investigation.
