Kevin McCarthy Continues to Diminish the George Santos Problem

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is doing his best to ignore the fact that he has a con man serving under his leadership.

NY Rep George Santos has been proven a liar in nearly every aspect of his life – from career to personal and beyond.

But on Wednesday when he was asked about the fact that NY lawmakers have called for Santos to resign, McCarthy responded, “What are the charges against him? In America today, you’re innocent till proven guilty. So just because somebody doesn’t like the press you have, it’s not me that can oversay what the voters say.”

Of course, the voters didn’t know that Santos was lying about basically everything when they elected him. They also didn’t know he was facing fraud charges in Brazil – a bombshell revelation that dropped this week.

In fact, George Santos is facing four criminal investigations from Brazil, Nassau County, Eastern District of NY and the NY Attorney General.

His peers and constituents have urged him to resign, but Kevin McCarthy seems content to keep pretending all is rosy and blame “voter’s voice” while ignoring the fact that the voters were defrauded, and he should be protecting their right to an honest election.

Par for the course under the McCarthy House? It seems likely.
