Joe Biden Asks for $37 Billion Emergency Aid for Ukraine

President Joe Biden has asked for yet another massive emergency aid package for Ukraine.

This one, to the tune of $37 billion.

In addition to the newest Ukraine aid package, Biden is seeking about $9B in COVID funds to plan for an expected Winter surge.

Federal funding expires in mid-December. The Ukraine and COVID aid will be part of the package to fund the government through the end of September 2023.

The proposed aid package includes:

  • $21.7B in the military, intelligence, and defense spending
  • $14.5B in humanitarian support
  • $900 million for healthcare and support services for Ukrainian people living in the US
  • $626 million for nuclear security support to Ukraine, plus funds to aid in modernizing the Strategic Petroleum Reserve
