Israel Adesanya has accomplished pretty much everything imaginable throughout his storied MMA career, but a victory against Alex Pereira has always eluded him.

Until Saturday night.

Adesanya finally overcame his personal boogeyman, and reclaimed the middleweight championship, with an electrifying second-round knockout.

Up to that point, Pereira had gotten the best of his Nigerian rival on three other occasions. The Brazilian beat Adesanya twice in their kickboxing careers, but most notably, Pereira snatched the belt from Izzy with a stunning knockout victory at UFC 281.

It looked like Pereira had the edge in this fight too, as he pushed Adesanya into a defensive position along the cage. Alas, ‘the Last Stylebender’ connected with two jarring right hooks to knock his nemesis out cold.

“They say revenge is sweet,” Adesanya exclaimed. “And if you know me, I’ve got a sweet tooth.”

What an electric result.
