Iran Supreme Leader Sends Money to Heir Apparent Son in Venezuela – $4B to be Precise

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has sent a whopping sum of money to his son Mojtaba in Venezuela – a son most think will succeed his father as the head of Iran.

The money, $4 billion, was transferred to Mojtaba’s personal account in Venezuela, according to a document released by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).

A letter for the transfer request read in part, “In light of the current crisis in the country and the extensive wave of rioting by antirevolutionary elements and rioters across the country, and the security institutions’ declaration of a Level Orange alert, your honor is requested to transfer the sum of $4 billion (US) from the state treasury to the personal account of Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei at the Central Bank of Venezuela, in Venezuela.”

The precautionary transfer came amidst months of unrest and rioting in Iran after police killed a 22-year-old woman for wearing her hijab improperly late last year.

Some experts, however, believe that the letter requesting the transfer is fake.

MEMRI notes that calling the son “Ayatollah” in the letter suggests that it is assumed he will follow in his father’s footsteps as Supreme Leader.
