Inside the Departure of Alex Bennett and Jordyn Woodruff’s Exit from Barstool Sports

The dynamic duo behind the ‘Mean Girls’ Podcast, Alex Bennett and Jordyn Woodruff, are set to launch a fresh episode, but this time, they’re no longer affiliated with Barstool Sports. The reason behind their departure from the media giant was the show’s financial performance, or lack thereof.

Barstool Sports decided not to renew the contracts of the female podcasters, mainly due to the podcast’s struggle to generate revenue. Now, Bennett and Woodruff are on the hunt for a new platform to continue sharing their unique female dating perspective. Their latest episode, titled “Why We Left Barstool,” aims to draw a substantial audience and potential advertisers to pave the way for a fresh start.

While at Barstool, it’s known that the podcast saw good engagement on Facebook clips, but its overall viewership remained modest. “They would have to bundle the podcast with other shows for advertisers to invest in it,” revealed an inside source. Initially, when Barstool brought the duo on board, Bennett was tasked with creating content, including family-friendly material intended to attract advertisers. Woodruff focused on covering Entertainment News, but it failed to gain much traction among the audience. However, when the two joined forces for the ‘Mean Girls’ podcast, their content veered towards more explicit themes, which, although popular in short clips, proved challenging to monetize.

Adding to the mix of challenges, FACTZ has learned that Bennett’s husband had reservations about the explicit content, given his conservative multi-millionaire family’s background as owners of the Oklahoma City Thunder’s basketball team. The strain from the content and their Barstool experience eventually led to the unraveling of their relationship, with Bennett recently moving out of her apartment. She has yet to publicly address her relationship status, having refrained from wearing her wedding ring or featuring her husband on her social media for several months.

Now, the two podcasters are striving to become social media stars, backed by potential brands willing to invest in them. This week, they are hosting live shows, hoping to fill the room with an audience willing to pay the $44 ticket price, impress industry figures, and earn a second chance. Each night’s topic carries a catchy clickbait title, such as ‘Jordan’s Relationship Status’ and ‘Alex’s Relationship Status.’ We await Dave Portnoy, the head honcho of Barstool Sports, known for his outspokenness, to share his thoughts on this situation.
