A Houston-area pastor, Robert L. Carter, who was accused of sexually assaulting and impregnating an underage family member, has been taken into custody and appeared in court. The charges include sexual assault of a child between 14 and 17 and continuous sexual abuse of a child. The abuse allegedly began when the victim was just seven years old and continued into her late teens. Carter’s bond has been set at $100,000, and he has been associated with the Black Preachers Network as a bishop and senior pastor. The victim is working to regain custody of her child, born when she was 16.
