Hobbit House Airbnb Transports Guests to Magical Land of Hobbiton

If you’re a fan of the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogy movies (and/or books), you’re in luck.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the release of “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” guests will be able to book an Airbnb that offers an overnight stay at the iconic Hobbiton movie set in New Zealand.

That’s right – mind the door frames and leave your shoes at the door because it’s time to cozy up in a hole in the ground (not a nasty, dirty, wet hole filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it is a hobbit-hole, and that means comfort). And hairy feet are very welcome here.

Fans will get a chance to live like a hobbit and explore the behind-the-scenes wonder of the famous location.

Owner of the family property on which it sits, Russel Alexander, is welcoming some lucky few to the 2,500-acre working farm, which looks strikingly like the shire – even before you spy the movie set mockup of Hobbiton.

The owner is offering three individual two-night stays for up to four guests at NZD $10 per night. Guests can access 44 Hobbit Holes, the Millhouse, the Green Dragon Inn (mums the word on whether you can get a pint here), and other instantly recognizable locations.

Guests will also enjoy cozy overnight accommodations cured by the trilogies’ creative director Brian Massey (including a writing nook perfect for Bilbo and his masterpiece at the Millhouse), private access to a Hobbit Hole for relaxing in, an evening banquet in the Green Dragon Inn with a feast that includes beef and ale stew, whole roast chickens, freshly baked breads and plenty of ale – plus, of course, Second Breakfast and Elevenses served daily, plus a private behind-the-scenes tour of the set.
