Gavin Newsom Mocks Ron DeSantis Over Embarrassing Loss to Disney

Over the weekend, California Governor Gavin Newsom was in Florida – the home turf of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

And he was taking verbal shots at the Florida Governor, who was recently dealt a stinging blow after his attempts to replace Disney’s board of directors with hand-picked lackeys was effectively kneecapped before it could be implemented.

Newsom told Business Insider, “I guess there’s a new sheriff in town,” in a jab at an infamous statement from DeSantis when he first appointed the new board to Disney’s independent district.

He added, “It’s Mickey Mouse, back on top.”

DeSantis, despite feeling the sting of the embarrassing move from Disney, has promised to keep fighting, and his legal team is looking for ways to void the contract that rendered its new board effectively useless.

Newsom said that the loss to Disney hurt the governor at a vulnerable time; “It’s a bit of a yellow flag, if not a red flag, for DeSantis and a very perilous time for him politically, too, because he’s struggling right now.”
