Florida Gun Law Raising Purchase Age to 21 Stays – For Now

After the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School massacre, a law was passed in Florida that raised the minimum age to purchase a gun from 18 to 21.

And a federal appeals court upheld the law on Thursday in a 3-0 ruling. The 11th US Circuit Court of Appeals announced through Circuit Judge Robin Rosenbaum’s opinion that the Florida law was “consistent with our Nation’s historical tradition of firearm regulation.”

However, the law may soon be reversed back to 18 as the Republican supermajority legislature is taking up the issue again soon.
