RIP SPLASH MOUNTAIN

Disneyland Has Finally Gotten Rid of the Iconic Ride: Splash Mountain

Disneyland lost a major ride starting today, as the iconic Splash Mountain is officially no more. Don’t strain too much, as the ride is being re-designed to reflect the 2009 movie “The Princess and the Frog.”  So, you’ll still be able to get wet and have a solid drop on the ride, but the artwork before the ride will be from the film. The ride is planning to re-open in late 2024.

Splash Mountain

Splash Mountain has been around since 1989 and featured characters from a controversial movie, “Song of the South,” which was criticized for being racist towards black people and creating a false narrative of life in the South. In the last few years, the ride started to get more attention as Disney fans demanded a change in the ride.

Disney announced they were planning to change the ride in 2020. RIP Splash Mountain.
