Dave Portnoy Slips that Barstool is Losing $12 Million A Year

Barstool was founded 20 years ago by David Portnoy. The company began rising to success after launching on the Internet in 2007 and became even more popular in 2014 when it started airing exclusive content on Barstool Sports. Barstool is the home to many famous podcasts, their most popular being Pardon My Take. The company is also where Call Her Daddy began. And, although its logo is highly recognizable, the company seems to be in a downhill motion. Portnoy is seen on TikTok discussing the company’s layoffs and even slipped up about how much it’s losing a year.

“99% of the layoffs are from the second floor. Business – which are more traditional jobs which are easier to find a similar job as opposed to the aisle of misfits around here. And, I’ve said ti a thousand times but, those guys back there, like, I don’t know that those people would do,” says Portnoy in a TikTok video from @barstool.radio.

In another TikTok from @stoolpresidente Portnoy is heard talking about the empathetic challenge of laying people off. “No sh*t, nobody wants to lay people off.”

The founder of the company began to show some rage saying, “I don’t want to lay any people off. But, that last thing I want to do, is when we have to, is have Nate be like, ‘You ruined his life.’ Well, maybe you have to blog on the weekend Nate, you f*ck. Like what did you want me to do.” Adding, “I don’t need a guilt trip.”

Portnoy is seen explaining to his employees that the layoffs of people in specific roles don’t mean that those roles no longer matter but instead, everyone will have to pick up more work to keep productivity up. At the end of the video Portnoy is heard saying to his team, “It f*ckin matter, we’re losing $12 million a year. Wake the f*ck up.”
