Confirmed: McDonald’s Closes Corporate Offices in the US And Lays off Hundreds of Workers

McDonald’s is temporarily closing corporate offices in the US from Monday to Wednesday as they enact a round of layoffs affecting hundreds of corporate workers.

CEO Chris Kempczinski announced early this year that McDonald’s would be cutting jobs as part of a broad restructuring plan. They told employees that they would be notified virtually of layoffs, starting Monday and ending Wednesday.

In internal communications reported by CNBC, McDonald’s said that the plan to close corporate offices for those three days was for employees’ comfort and privacy along with timing since this week is a big travel week for Passover and Easter.

The restructuring of the company includes deprioritizing and halting initiatives, and the layoffs are part of a plan to innovate faster and work more efficiently, according to Kempczinski.
