Canadian Government Proposes Ban on Assault-Style Weapons

Assault-style firearms could soon be banned in Cananda.

The Canadian government has proposed a ban on assault-style firearms that would apply once Parliament passes legislation they are currently considering.

Under the new plan, the government would make regulations through the Firearms Act to correctly classify guns before they can enter the Canadian market.

Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino told a news conference, “I want to make it clear that our government is not targeting hunters and law-abiding gun owners. What we’re doing is protecting families, protecting our children, protecting our communities.”

The new legislation would also create a firearms advisory committee that would make recommendations on the classification of guns now on the market.

  • I wish the spineless Republicans in Congress would do the same thing! There is no reason for private citizens to possess these weapons of war! Sorry False Equus!
