Britney Spears Opens Up About Abortion While Dating Justin Timberlake

Pop icon Britney Spears has revealed her experience with having an abortion during her relationship with fellow singer Justin Timberlake. Spears candidly discusses this decision in her upcoming memoir, “The Woman in Me,” scheduled for release on October 24.

The relationship between Spears and Timberlake, who were an iconic celebrity couple in the late 1990s, ended in 2002 after dating for three years. In her memoir, Spears shares that the abortion occurred because Timberlake wasn’t ready to proceed with the pregnancy.

“Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy,” she expressed, noting that he believed they were too young for parenthood. Spears reflects on the uncertainty surrounding their decision, stating, “I don’t know if that was the right decision. If it had been left up to me alone, I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father.”

The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to Timberlake’s representatives for a response. In her forthcoming memoir, Spears offers an insight into her lifelong career, her experiences in the entertainment industry, personal relationships, and her 13-year conservatorship, which came to an end in November 2021. Spears emphasizes that it’s time for her to share her perspective directly with her fans, asserting, “No more conspiracy, no more lies – just me owning my past, present, and future.”

Spears’ memoir also delves into both the joyful and painful parts of her life, including her career, her experiences under the conservatorship led by her father, Jamie Spears, and the objectification she faced for years at the hands of him and his business associates. Spears describes the feeling of being infantilized during her years under conservatorship, emphasizing how it affected her sense of identity.
