Breathtaking T. Rex Skeleton Goes Up for Auction in Europe

If you’ve always dreamed of having your very own dinosaur, you’re in luck.

Kinda.

A full T. rex skeleton is up for sale for over $8.5 million (USD).

This skeleton is the third of its quality to ever go up for auction and the first to do so in Europe.

It’s a 67-million-year-old, 293-bone skeleton dubbed TRX-293 TRINITY Tyrannosaurus rex. She measures 38 feet long and 12.8 feet tall.

Koller Auctions called it “among the finest specimens of one of the largest terrestrial predators ever to inhabit the Earth,” adding that the skeleton is “mounted in a dynamic, scientifically accurate and modern pose.”

The auction house continues, “Trinity is one of the most spectacular T. rex skeletons in existence, a well-preserved and brilliantly restored fossil.”

She was unearthed between 2008 and 2013 as part of a three-specimen haul from Hell Creek and Lance Creek in Montana and Wyoming.

Only 32 skeletons of adult T. rexes have been found worldwide, and most of them are in institutional collections.
