Bad News, Gamers: E3 2023 is Canceled

This year was supposed to be the first return to an in-person expo for E3 since 2019. It was slated to take place from June 13-16.

But organizers have announced that it’s canceled.

The convention was postponed in 2020 and 2022, and a scaled-back virtual version was conducted in 2021.

Once considered the biggest gaming event of the year, E3 may soon just be a memory. Organizers say that while E3 “remains a beloved event and brand,” the 2023 expo “simply did not garner the sustained interest necessary to execute it in a way that would showcase the size, strength and impact of our industry.”

That means fans like those who follow Dragon Age: Dreadwolf and other hotly anticipated 2023 games will have to look elsewhere (and another time) for the news they’ve been waiting for.

While it’s disappointing for fans of the industry, it’s not entirely unanticipated. This year’s event saw big publications and businesses decline to attend, including Ubisoft, Nintendo, Playstation, Xbox, Sega, Tencent and more.
