Argentina Win The World Cup 2022 in Penalty Shootout

Some are calling it the greatest game in World Cup history.

In a back-and-forth affair filled to the brim with drama, Lionel Messi and Argentina reigned victorious after winning the game in penalty kicks.

Messi scored the opening goal of the match on a penalty, before Angel Di Maria gave his country a 2-0 lead going into the half.

Things looked phenomenal for La Scalonteta, but France superstar Kylian Mbappe scored goals in the 80th and 81st minute to stun the crowd and tie the game 2-2.

Messi, playing in his final World Cup, again played the hero by giving Argentina a 3-2 lead late in extra time. However, as the minutes wound down, Mbappe would again shock the masses watching by converting a penalty kick to tie the game at 3-3.

Both Messi and Mbappe scored in the penalty shootout, but Argentina keeper Emiliano Martinez made a crucial save en route to the South American country’s first World Cup title since 1986.

Congratulations Argentina.
