9/11 Victims’ Group Tears Apart Hypocritical PGA Tour After LIV Golf Merger

9/11 Families United, a support group for the families of 9/11 victims, ripped the PGA Tour’s decision to merge with the Saudi-backed LIV Tour in a statement released on Tuesday afternoon.

The group said they were “shocked and deeply offended” by the unexpected announcement and called the PGA and Commissioner Jay Monahan “paid Saudi shills.”

A rampant level of hypocrisy runs throughout the merger, which Families United was quick to point out.

“Last year [the PGA claimed] that the Saudi LIV project was nothing more than sportswashing of Saudi Arabia’s reputation.”

“Now the PGA and Monahan [are] taking billions of dollars to cleanse the Saudi reputation so that … the world will forget how the Kingdom spent their billions of dollars before 9/11 to fund terrorism, spread their vitriolic hatred of Americans, and finance al Qaeda and the murder of our loved ones.”

After the PGA Tour took a hard moral stance against LIV just a year ago, it certainly seems like it was all insincere now that they are willingly accepting Saudi money.

“Our entire 9/11 community has been betrayed by Commissioner Monahan and the PGA as it appears their concern for our loved ones was merely window-dressing in their quest for money – it was never to honor the great game of golf.”
