Remember in the ’90s; there were those weird RomComs where a fully grown adult would pretend to be a teenager to hide out in a high school for some justifiable reason?

Hiding from the mafia, looking to reclaim the glory years – you name it, they justified it. But it was always creepy, and looking back from the lens of 2023, it seems even worse by contrast.

However, one woman decided to do exactly that in the real world – and no one is exactly sure why.

29-year-old Hyejeong Shin provided a forged birth certificate to enroll in New Brunswick High School, where she attended for four days before being caught and kicked out.

No motive is clear. She exchanged numbers with multiple students and even planned to meet some of them outside of school. Students who met her say they tried to make her feel welcome but are now anxious about what her motives could have been.
