With Movies Not Bringing Any Excitement, Red Carpets are Now Relying on Content Creators

The struggling film business is doing ANYTHING to bring people back to the theaters. Movie studios are finally embracing social media influencers and putting 50% of their marketing budgets behind them, especially micros.

FACTZ has learned that production for red carpets only hires social media stars to walk alongside the actors at movie premiers to help raise awareness about their films.

The ask is that they are required to film the carpet for their socials and then are invited for a VIP experience of the night, basically becoming BFFs with the actor or actress over drinks.

Movie theaters have gotten creative with their concessions. However, people still aren’t going out to theaters.

This is why Adam Sandler took the NETFLIX deal, where they must be the feature platform for his movies. FACTZ spoke with a director at NETFLIX, and she stated, “People don’t go out to theaters to see comedy films. That is a dead model. The movies that are doing the best in theaters are big blockbuster CGI films. Films that need loud effects that super-theaters can only achieve.”

So yes, social media stars like Meredith Duxbury (above) are being paid to film content on the red carpet to help the struggling industry. But for one thing, this is the first significant step for the studios to finally embrace the power of social media with these new stars.
