What Do You Think Of Victoria’s Secret Re-Brand?

Victoria’s Secret is known for its angel-like models that define unattainable beauty. For years, the brand hosted a spectacular televised fashion show showcasing all of the models and the season’s new collection. The show stopped airing in 2019 when the marketing of “normal” body types became more valuable, putting Victoria’s Secret under scrutiny.

The brand has given itself a makeover and, this year, the angels are back on the runway but, with a different look.

TikTok user Meghan Elinor shared a clip on her page discussing her disappointment with the brand’s shift in image.

Elinor says, “When I think of things like Victoria’s Secret angels, I think of a beauty standard that is not achievable. Something that a lot of people aspire to potentially be. Maybe it’s not necessarily their weight or their looks, it’s the way they hold themselves, it’s being able to hold their confidence when they walk outside. These angels used to talk about this all the time. They were just the epitome of what beauty was. And, they’re called angels for a reason. You wanna know why? Because angels are something you can never achieve in real life. Angels are supposed to be the most beautiful, and glorified – I can’t even describe how amazing these beings are meant to be which is why they had these women up on stage, up on the catwalk, up on all the magazines…”

Elinor wishes for the brand to stick to its roots and its initial image because what they’re doing “is not working.”
