Waste Management Phoenix Open Continues To Showcase Just How Fun Golf Can Be

Every PGA season, the Waste Management Phoenix Open is at the top of golf fans’ bucket lists.

This tournament, known as ‘The People’s Open’ or ‘The Greenest Show on Grass’, is more than just a star-studded field of the world’s best golfers or the most eco-conscious sporting event in North America.

It is also the biggest party on the PGA Tour, boasting record-setting attendance numbers on an annual basis.

Likewise, those attendees like to partake in enough alcohol to make a frat house blush. An estimated 750,000 servings of beer are sold at TPC Scottsdale during the weekend festivities.

Last year, Sam Ryder got an ace on the famous 16th hole, sending the crowd into a beer-soaked frenzy. PGA pros Harry Higgs and Joel Dahmen joined in on the fun, going shirtless after saving par.

And you know what? It is all absolutely awesome for the game of golf.

The attendance and concession sales aside, it is a wildly competitive tournament and provides the most viral clips of the PGA season. It gets non-golf fans captivated by the libation laden crowds and showcases just how fun the sport can be.

For one tournament a year, it is fine to ditch the stodgy, elitist stereotypes and crack open a couple Coors Lights.
